Under the Trek Tamil Nadu initiative, the Tamil Nadu Forest Department has identified and opened 40 official trekking routes across the state, with 10 beautiful and eco-regulated trails in the Nilgiris district alone. These trails are categorized based on difficulty: Easy, Moderate, and Tough.

• Trail distances range from 2 km to 20 km with guided durations of 2 to 8 hours.

• All treks are conducted in small groups, led by trained local guides, with forest permissions and safety briefings.

• The treks pass through protected shola forests, grasslands, and wildlife zones, offering chances to see Nilgiri tahr, Indian gaur, langurs, and a variety of birds and flora.
